Truck Fundraiser Ends on January 29, 2021!
We need a new pick-up
On October 27, Jimmy Suckow, manager of Cleone’s Closet Food Pantry, discovered that our pick-up truck was stolen. It was the truck we used to bring food to the Pantry. Read more in our November Newsletter.
Although the truck was quickly found, it was damaged and unrepairable.
A local businessman, who chooses to be anonymous, encouraged us to do a fundraising event and raise $10,000 to get another truck. He donated $100 to start the fundraising. Having heard about the stolen vehicle, the 92 Security Forces Squadron of Fairchild Air Force Base donated $250.
When Ron Ulmer, Pastor of the Hillyard Baptist Church, heard that our truck was stolen, he immediately contacted WHEN and provided a shuttle bus for WHEN’s and Cleone’s Closet usage.
We cannot thank him enough for his generosity.
Still, we need a truck to pick up food donations and bring them to Cleone’s Closet.
We are officially starting our fundraising event so that we may purchase a new vehicle. This fundraiser will end on January 29, 2021. Would you please help?
WHEN is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and your donation is 100% tax deductible.
Thank you for supporting WHEN this past year.
Your help and assistance were vital during the past year. Without support from our friends, neighbors, and local businesses, it would have been impossible for women, children, and men to access our programs during 2020.
WHEN (Women’s Healing & Empowerment Network) is a first-line response to ending violence against women, men, and children. WHEN offers a variety of programs to educate and inform both victims and offenders of mental and physical abuse.
WHEN also promotes Cleone’s Closet in Airway Heights, a program designed to help Level 2 food insecurity. Through donations and associations with other organizations, food distribution occurs three times a week. For more information, click here.

Eric Johnson, owner of Firehouse Subs, asked Mike Ellis, a volunteer at Cleone’s Closet Food Pantry, if he knew of a worthy cause that would benefit from a donated lunch of subs. Mike was kind enough to mention Cleone’s Closet Food Pantry. On Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving, staff and volunteers received a boxful of delicious subs delivered by Nicholas Johnson and Madison Pearson . Thank you, Eric Johnson, for the donation!
Tiffany Reynolds, Frieda’s Healing Center, was surprised to receive the food donation from Longhorn Barbecue.
Tiffany Reynolds was excited to receive food donated by Longhorn Barbecue in Airway Heights (7613 W Sunset Highway). The clients at Frieda’s Healing Center will enjoy another Thanksgiving meal.
Special thanks to Tom Bartridge, WHEN Board Chair, for delivering the food to the ladies on Friday, the day after Thanksgiving.

What is WHEN?
Women’s Healing and Empowerment Network (WHEN), a faith-based, non-profit organization, was founded in 2008 as a response to the growing need for programs and services to address the issues of domestic violence and sexual abuse. It’s a 501(c)(3) organization and all donations to WHEN are tax deductible.
WHEN’s focus
The escalation of emotional and mental disorders resulting from unresolved issues are increasing in Christian families and relationships. Counselors, teachers, pastors, and church members agree that there are many Christians dealing with issues that negatively impact their lives. They also agree that there are limited resources and services designed to provide safety for victims, education for perpetrators, and address the causes, effects, treatment, and prevention of family violence and related abuse concerns. There is a need for Scripture to be interpreted rightly so that the true meaning of the roles, privileges, and responsibilities of each family member can be addressed from a Christian perspective. Because of the escalation of emotional and mental disorders resulting from unresolved issues, and dysfunctional family systems, many families are at risk of disintegrating.
